Hobby Support

The City grants financial support to contract clubs, associations, and foundations operating in Lappeenranta, as well as to institutions providing basic education in the arts. The support is intended to be distributed further to children and young people under the age of 18 living in Lappeenranta who face difficulties in starting or continuing a hobby due to their family’s financial situation.

Lappeenrannan Urheilu-Miehet will act as a partner club in 2026 in the administration of the City of Lappeenranta’s hobby support for children and young people. The criteria for the grant are as follows:

  • The participant must be under 18 years old and a resident of Lappeenranta.

  • The participant must have an ongoing or upcoming hobby in a registered club, organization, association, foundation, or an institution providing basic education in the arts that has an agreement with the City and operates in Lappeenranta.

  • Support can only be granted for the basic costs of one hobby per child per year. Basic hobby activities refer to weekly/regular participation in guided activities for children or young people.

  • The hobby grant may be awarded to cover term fees, monthly fees, or seasonal fees based on actual costs.

  • The support can be up to €50 per month per child and a maximum of €600 per year per child. The amount granted depends on the number of applicants.

  • The low-income threshold in 2020 was €1,280/month for a single-person household. If this threshold is not met, the applicant may justify the need for support based on factors such as a guardian’s unemployment, disability, single parenthood, or other financial challenges.
