Competition Numbers:
Athletes receive two competition numbers. One must be securely attached to the front and one to the back of the competition vest.
Exception: In jumping events, only a single competition number is required.
Numbers must not be folded, cut, or altered in any way.
Critical Penalty: If an athlete fails to appear at the competition without a prior official withdrawal or notification, a 6-fold entry fee fine of €120 will be charged to the athlete or their club.
Competition Office (Kilpailukanslia)
The competition office handles check-ins, accreditation, and material distribution.
Location: Located outside in front of the grandstand building, to the left of the stadium's main entrance.
Opening Hours: Opens at 15:00 on the day of the event.
Materials: This is where you collect your competition numbers, Athlete Pass (accreditation), and one entry ticket for your personal coach.
Call Room & Gear Inspection
All athletes must report to the Call Room before entering the infield according to the specific Call Room schedule (published closer to the event).
Location: A tent located at the Saimaa-side (lake side) end of the stadium building.
Prohibited Items: Electronic devices (mobile phones, smartwatches, headphones, etc.) are strictly forbidden in the competition area. They should be left with coaches. If brought to the Call Room, they must be turned off and placed inside your gear bag, and they cannot be used at any point during the competition.
Inspections: Official checks on competition numbers and footwear will be performed here.
Shoe Regulation Warning: All competition footwear must comply with the latest World Athletics (WA) regulations. The list of approved footwear can be verified on the World Athletics website ("World Athletics Approved Shoe List"). Competing in non-compliant shoes, refusing to follow referee instructions, or failing to attend a requested shoe inspection will result in disqualification and the forfeiture of all results and prizes.
Implements & Technical Regulations
Personal Throwing Implements
Personal implements must be submitted to the Implement Control station for inspection and measurement no later than 90 minutes before your event's start time.
Location: The city-side end of the stadium building (opens at 15:00).
All personal implements will be returned to athletes at the measurement site after the event concludes (not directly on the field).
Pole Vault Regulations & Storage
Storage & Logistics: Vaulting poles must be left at the implement inspection area and will be stored in the designated warehouse underneath the main grandstand (city-side end). The organizing committee will transport poles to and from the field.
Marking: Pole bags/covers must be clearly marked with the athlete's Category + Event (Sarja + Kilpailu).
Men's Pole Vault Bar Progressions: TBA
Warm-up & Stadium Facilities
Indoor Warm-up: A dedicated indoor warm-up area and a fully equipped weight room are available for athletes inside the arena. Access is strictly restricted to individuals holding an Athlete Pass.
Outdoor Training: Excellent jogging and running trails are available in the immediate vicinity of the stadium.
Changing Rooms & Showers: Located on the track level of the grandstand building with direct access from the track side (restrooms/WC available). Note: The event organizers take no responsibility for personal items left in the locker rooms.
Infield Regulations & Competition Conduct
Access Control: Field entry is strictly monitored. Only competing athletes currently in their event session and authorized technical officials are permitted on the infield.
Coaches' Seating: Athletes and coaches can choose seats in the public stands. For the Long Jump and Triple Jump events, the lowest row of the back-straight grandstand is exclusively reserved for coaches.
Field Access & Mixed Zone: Athletes will be escorted in a group from the Call Room to the field. After the event concludes, exit from the track is mandatory via the Mixed Zone (Interview Point). Runners' personal gear bags will be transported by officials to the Mixed Zone area.
Introductions: Track athletes will be introduced at the starting lines. Field event athletes will be introduced prior to warm-up trials or before the official start.
Field Event Trials: In horizontal jumps and throwing events, the order of competition for the final three rounds will be reversed based on the standings after the first three rounds.
Restroom Access: During an ongoing event, athletes may use the nearest restroom only when escorted by a designated event official.
First Aid & Doping Control
First Aid: Certified medical personnel and a physician are stationed on the field. The medical room is at the Saimaa-side end of the grandstand building near the Call Room (entrance from the competition market square / kisatori side). An automated external defibrillator (AED) is on site.
Doping Control: Testing will be conducted during the event by the Finnish Center for Integrity in Sports (FINCIS / SUEK ry).
National Records: If you set a National Record (Finnish Athletes), a negative doping test result is strictly required for official ratification. The athlete is personally responsible for reporting immediately to the doping control station.
Parking & Logistics
Parking spaces in the immediate vicinity of the stadium are highly limited. It is strongly recommended that athletes and spectators utilize the public parking lots at Iso-Kristiina, Pohjolankatu, or Myllysaari.
